We had interviews with President and Sister Jordan last Thursday! Sister Jordan made us sing the "Glorious" song from the Meet The Mormons movie. We studied The Consecrated Missionary talk by Elder Callister which helped me think about how consecrated I am as a missionary. As missionaries we really have to put everything on the altar of sacrifice in order to "offer your whole souls as an offering unto him" - Omni 1:26. The interviews went well and since I've been training I have been taking the lead in more things which has been helping me in becoming more consecrated.
We have been teaching an investigator in a part-member family. We had a chat about keeping the Sabbath day holy and he finds it hard because of the work he has. He is in his 50/60's and doesn't really have a job. He sometimes gets calls to work part time at a golfing place or he does gardening work for his neighbour. He feels like God has blessed him with the work that he has and he doesn't want to lose it. He wants to help himself and then he thinks God will help him. We taught him about putting the Lord first and putting your treasure in Heaven. I felt inspired to ask him "where is your heart?" after reading the scriptures in 3 Nephi. He told us that he doesn't know, so we wrote down a commitment for him to pray. He doesn't like to pray vocally with us, even with his member wife. However he said he would pray personally. The next day we saw him at church for the first time in months! He said he didn't pray that night like we asked him to, but we're grateful that he enjoyed church. Through our patience and with our persistence we got him to keep the Sabbath day holy! I know that by putting the Lord first by keeping the commandments no matter how difficult we will be showing that our heart is with him. We plan to meet with Antonio this week and plan to put him on date!
