Hi family and friends,
Last week has been pretty hard for me. I don't know how, but I started to get a sore throat and a blocked nose. We believe it's a sinus infection. I'm getting better and I'm able to talk more normally now.
We had zone meeting on Thursday and it was really good! The main topic was bridging the gap between missionaries and members. We know that in missionary work getting referrals from the members is the best! This is because when members refer their friends it automatically creates a good teaching situation. Their friend will always have the member to rely on for help and for answers. We talked about the different scenarios between missionaries and members e.g. members not trusting missionaries, members afraid of losing their friends, missionaries not acting properly. We were taught that the solution was PMG - Preach My Gospel. One of the reasons we use PMG is to change the way we think and act. I haven't really asked members about using PMG. This is something we want to start as we visit with the members.
I have been encouraging Elder Dias to talk to people as we travel from place to place. At the moment he finds it pretty strange and out of his comfort zone. We were heading to a shop and Elder Dias stopped someone to ask for directions. As he started talking, it turned out the man is from Brazil and that he already has a Book of Mormon. He's interested and wants to meet with us again. His name is Emerson and we plan to contact him this week! Finding as a missionary is amazing and I know it requires our faith.
Here is something that stood out to me in my studies in Mosiah 4. Let us all serve each other with love!
19 For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?
20 And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name, and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance,so exceedingly great was your joy.
21 And now, if God, who has created you, on whom you are dependent for your lives and for all that ye have and are, doth grant unto you whatsoever ye ask that is right, in faith, believing that ye shall receive, O then, how ye ought to impart of the substance that ye have one to another.
